DS4Windows stores profiles and config in a dedicated folder. Backing it up lets you restore settings after a reinstall or move to another PC. This guide also covers full uninstall of DS4Windows and its drivers.

Where Data Is Stored

User data is in %appdata%\DS4Windows (e.g. C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\DS4Windows). You'll typically find:

  • Profiles folder – one XML file per profile.
  • AutoProfiles.xml – Auto Profile rules.
  • Profiles.xml, ControllerConfigs.xml, LinkedProfiles.xml, Actions.xml, OutputSlots.xml – main config.

The DS4Windows program folder (where you extracted the ZIP) may also contain a copy of profiles if you chose that location. Check both the program folder and %appdata%\DS4Windows; the app loads from where it finds Profiles.xml.

Backup

  • Close DS4Windows (including system tray).
  • Copy the entire %appdata%\DS4Windows folder to a safe place (e.g. Desktop or external drive). To open the folder quickly: press Win + R, type %appdata%\DS4Windows, press Enter.
  • If you use the program folder for profiles, copy that folder too.

Restore

  • Close DS4Windows.
  • Replace the contents of %appdata%\DS4Windows with your backup (or copy the backup folder back and rename it to DS4Windows).
  • If you had profiles in the program folder, restore that folder as well.
  • Start DS4Windows and check that profiles and Auto Profile rules are correct.

Uninstall DS4Windows (Program Only)

DS4Windows is portable—there is no installer, so no "Uninstall" in Control Panel. To remove the program:

  • Close DS4Windows (and any custom .exe you created) and make sure it's not in the system tray.
  • Delete the folder where you extracted DS4Windows (the one containing DS4Windows.exe).

To remove your settings and profiles too: delete %appdata%\DS4Windows (after backing up if needed).

Remove ViGEmBus Driver

Only remove ViGEmBus if you don't use it for anything else (e.g. other controller tools).

  • Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Control Panel → Uninstall a program).
  • Find ViGEmBus Driver and uninstall. Reboot if prompted.

Remove HidHide Driver

  • Settings → Apps → Installed apps. Search for HidHide.
  • Uninstall and reboot when prompted.

Remove FakerInput (If Installed)

In Settings → Apps, search for FakerInput, uninstall, and reboot if required.
